Both, the Campus Project and the SUMA Project aim to provide Moodle and Sakai with a standard layer of interoperability -based on OKI- that allow connections to academic management, a library and human resources management, without modifying the code of the platforms. In what concerns the academic environment, the Campus project have been developed –with the support of the Catalan government- by a consortium of the Catalan universities, and now is being applied to develop the new LMS of the Universtitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), that it is planned to be operational starting the fall semester of 2008. In what concerns the business environment, a consortium of Spanish companies, technology centers and universities, is developing the SUMA Project. The main goal of this project is the construction of a service-oriented platform that unifies new applications and standards currently available in the e-learning field. The SUMA Project is a tree years project founded by the Spanish Government, and still has about two years to run. The technical team of the UOC plays a central role in both projects that show the possibilities enabled by OKI.
