“Towards Open and Standard Learning Services for Education. A generational opportunity for Europe”

This presentation will introduce the increasing need for open and interoperable infrastructures for digital learning content production, sharing and distribution, leading to a sustainable learning content economy for the 21st century.  It will explore trends, challenges and threats faced by European publishers, industries and governmental bodies as well as initiatives needed to cope with the increased demand for better and cheaper learning resources production and distribution.

Today, open and standards based online educational architectures can, more rapidly and effectively, address the need of local Economies for the rapid up-skilling, competency, performance and talent development of their national workforces in order to better compete in the continuously evolving Economic scenarios of the New Millennium. This talk will present innovative digital content production and management solutions as well as case studies, highlighting the need for new open architectures and business models for a better and more effective distribution of digital contents for learning.
